If modern liberals/socialists really were for EQUALITY why don't they support...?

There are so many things wrong with your statement that it really defies a concise answer. You clearly do not understand what the words liberal and socialist mean. Your "live and let live mentality" has absolutely nothing at all to do with equality, so the question is really meaningless.
